Extended Description The Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument is just north of the town of Gila Hot Springs on State Route 15. The park sits along a branch of the Gila River. The towns of Mogollon and Glenwood are near the top left corner of the map in the forest. A loose band of towns bordering or close to the southern edge of the forest are, from left to right, Cliff, Gila, Pinos Altos, Silver City, Mimbres, San Lorenzo, Kingston, and Hillsboro. The towns of Truth or Consequences and Hatch are on Interstate 25, which runs up the right side of the map and leads “To Albuquerque” off the top right corner. Lordsburg and Deming are on Interstate 10, which runs along the bottom of the map and leads “To Tucson” off the left edge and “To Las Cruces and El Paso” off the right edge. A network of State Routes 35, 152, 61, 90, 27, and 26 as well as US Routes 70 and 180 make a web connecting the towns and sites. The Rio Grande runs close to Interstate 25 and connects with the Caballo Reservoir, to the right.
