Alt Text Detail map of Amistad National Recreation Area in Texas. The park area is shown in green and creates a peninsula resembling a coral reef that pokes into the blue Amistad Reservoir. A red line represents a road leading into the park, which is dense with symbols for fishing, swimming, boat launches, picnic areas, and more. Extended Description US Highway 90 enters the map from the right edge and continues into the park and diagonally toward the upper left corner, crossing over the reservoir and meeting with more park areas. Near the park entry, the road branches off as State Highway Spur 349, which goes diagonally down to the bottom left corner, toward Amistad Dam. One black line from the Spur curves around the peninsula’s left edges, coming to a boat launch below the Southwinds Marina (U.S. Air Force), which also has a boat launch and faces the reservoir. Another black line traveling up from the spur runs parallel to US Route 90, dipping below the highway to Governors Landing and Amphitheater, which has a campground, picnic area, and swimming area (unsupervised). Near US Highway 90’s entry into the park area, a black line comes up into Diablo East. Spread throughout this section of the park is a dump station, potable water, ranger station, boat launch, self-guiding trail, picnic areas, swimming, fishing pier, marina, and scuba diving.
