Alt Text Map of Timpanogos Cave National Monument Utah. The park is a darker green square in the much larger Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest, which is shown in paler green on the right half of the map. Utah Valley is shown in tan to the left, and Utah Lake is represented in blue in the lower corner. Extended Description The border between the national forest and Utah Valley is stepped and cuts diagonally down and across the map from near the top left corner to near the lower right. Timpanogos Cave National Monument is just northeast of center in the forest near the border. State Route 92 travels from Interstate 15 to the west, across the valley, and through the northwest corner of the monument. State Route 92 curves around Mount Timpanogos (elevation 11,750 feet/3,581 meters) as the Alpine Scenic Drive, first following the path of American Fork Canyon. Two spurs near the northeast corner of the drive lead to Tibble Fork Reservoir and Cascade Springs. Text just past the second spur, also labeled County Road 114, reads “This segment closed in winter.” The scenic drive continues past the US Forest Service Fee Station and Sundance Ski Resort. State Route 92 ends at US Route 189, which completes the scenic drive as it heads southwest along Provo Canyon back toward the border with Utah Valley. This last leg also passes Bridal Veil Falls. Four towns in Utah Valley are spaced in an arc that echoes the shape of Utah Lake in the lower left corner. From northwest to southeast these are Lehi, American Fork, Pleasant Grove, and Orem. Interstate 15 enters the map from the top edge near the left corner and travels south and then southeast around the lake. US Route 89 branches off Interstate 15 just past Lehi and travels a similar route as the interstate but shifted slightly east. State Route 74 branches off US Route 89 at American Fork and travels north to Highland on State Route 92 and then Alpine. Interstate 15 continues “To Salt Lake City” off the top edge of the map and “To Utah Lake State Park” off the bottom edge. Legend A scale in the lower left corner of the map measures distances of 3 kilometers and 3 miles.
