Alt Text Detail map of Wetherill Mesa in Mesa Verde National Park in Colorado shows Long House Loop paved trail and smaller hiking trails branching off it and cutting through it, along with cliff dwellings and mesa-top dwellings. Terrain is rendered in shades of green. Extended Description At the top, is a note reading “No motorized vehicles boast this point” next to a green callbox labeled Wetherill Mesa, which has information, a ranger station, restrooms, picnic area, and food service. Elevation here is 7,240 feet (2,208 meters). Above this center is a roughly C-shaped hiking trail for a self-guided tour to Step House, a cliff dwelling open to the public when the ranger is present. Long House Loop paved trail, 6 miles long (10 kilometers), also begins up here. It curves down the mesa and then veers slightly up and over east like the tail of a lowercase letter g. Another hiking trail stems from the information center and branches out around the paved trail at several points. Near the top of Long House Loop, thin triangles mark a 1-mile (1.6-kilometer) hiking trail that juts west and south and leads to an overlook from which the cliff dwelling Nordenskiöld Site #16 is visible. Back on Long House Loop, another short U-shaped hiking trail leads to cliff dwelling Long House, open to the public when a ranger is present and which requires a tour ticket. Where Long House Loop veers east and starts to form the lowercase-g-shape outline are restrooms. The main hiking trail continues through this top loop, circling around four mesa-top dwellings labeled as the Badger House Community. Long House Loop continues south and down Wetherill Mesa with a trail overlook marked near Long House. Closer to the bottom of Long House Loop is another trail overlook from which one can view the cliff dwelling Kodak House. Legend At the bottom of the map, a scale measures distances of 0.5 kilometers and 0.5 miles.
