Alt Text Map of Sand Creek Massacre National Historic Site in Colorado. Shown against tan terrain and overlapping the blue Big Sandy Creek, a blocky green border encloses a Visitor Contact Station and other sites and amenities. Extended Description Big Sandy Creek enters the map near the northwest corner and snakes down to end near the southeast corner. Most of the sites within the green boundaries are in a long, rectangular section near the middle. Bluffs and Bluff Trail angles from the top left corner down and to the right corner. The trail passes a Repatriation site and Monument Hill Trail before ending at the Visitor Contact Station, which has restrooms, a picnic area, and tornado shelter. Headquarters Road heads south from the Visitor Contact Station to intersect with County Road W. Monument Road heads west off Headquarters Road and then turns north to end at a site with parking and restrooms near the Monument Hill Trail. Chief White Antelope Way, also labeled Country Road 54, lines the west edge of the southernmost block of the park. The road passes an Orientation Pullout near the intersection of Chief White Antelope Way and country road W, and text with an arrow at the bottom left of this block reads, “To Eads via County Road 54 and Colorado 96, 24 miles (39 kilometers).” Legend A legend in the lower left corner of the map shows that a green outline represents NPS property. Symbols that follow represent Picnic area, Parking, Restrooms, and Tornado Shelter. A scale below the legend shows distances of 1,000 meters and 1,000 feet.
