Alt Text Detail map of Davis Bayou, part of the Gulf Islands National Seashore in Mississippi. The land is represented in tan, the park green, and the water blue. Extended Description The angular green area of the Gulf Islands National Seashore is stepped around most of its perimeter, though a long arm reaches east and then north farther into the state. The town of Ocean Springs is to the north and Davis Bayou winds across the bottom edge of the map. The William M. Colmer Visitor Center and parking is near the southern coastline along Davis Bayou. The Arboretum Trail and Fishing Pier are between the visitor center and the waterfront. To the left, Halstead Bayou winds to the west and Stark Bayou snakes northward in tight curves like capillaries. There is a boat launch on the southern end of the Halstead Bayou, campgrounds just north of that bayou, and a group campground is about halfway up the Stark Bayou. Five pavilions, numbered one through five, zigzag back and forth across the western third of the park. Robert McGhee Road cuts across the northern section, and the Park Road connects the visitor center with the Park Entrance, at the northernmost tip of the long arm reaching upward. The CCC Spur Trail and Davis Bayou Trail branch off of the Park Road, and Nature’s Way Loop Trail is tucked under a curve where Robert McGhee Road turns south to meet the Park Road. US Route 90 cuts across the top of this map, north of Ocean Springs, and an arrow pointing west near the left edge of the map reads, "To beaches and Gulfport (ferry to Ship Island).” Government Street curves through Ocean Springs and intersects the Park Road close to the main body of the park. Ocean Springs Road angles northeast off Government Street and crosses US Route 90 near the Park Entrance. Legend A scale in the lower left corner of the map measures 0.5 kilometers and 0.5 miles.
