Alt Text Map of the Battle of Saratoga fought on September 19, 1777 between Burgoyne's troops, represented by red lines in the north of Saratoga National Historical Park, and blue lines representing Gates's troops to the south. Extended Description Text in the lower right corner of the map reads, “September 19. Present-day Saratoga National Historical Park area shown in green.” The park is roughly the shape of a capital E with a wide backbone and thick arms. Mill Creek cuts down Saratoga National Historical Park. Kroma Kill and the Great Ravine slice across the upper arm of the E. The park is bordered to the east by the Hudson River. The red line labeled Burgoyne sweeps down from the top right corner of the map near text reading, “From Saratoga (Schuylerville).” One arm, labeled Fraser, nearly spans the top of the map and then turns south before ending in an arrow. Another arm to the east, Riedesel, follows the Hudson River south for a while and then turns west. Between the two, the third arm, Hamilton, breaks off from Fraser and meets the arrow from Riedesel at a site called Freeman Farm. The blue lines, labeled Gates, move north from near Bemus Heights and American Camp. Text at the bottom of the map reads, “To Albany.” The main blue trunk of the Y-shaped blue line is labeled Arnold. Both short arms of the Y curve away and down, as if taking U-turns away from each other. The left arm is labeled Learned and the right, also ending near Freeman Farm, is labeled Poor. A blue rectangle between the Frazer and Hamilton arrows is labeled Morgan.
