Alt Text Map showing the movement of the Johnstown Flood of 1889 as part of the Johnstown Flood National Memorial in Pennsylvania. Oversized gray arrows sweep along the Little Conemaugh River and spread near the lower left corner. Surrounding areas are paler gray, and roads are shown as white lines. Extended Description The arrows are outlined in blue and start as a single stem south of Woodvale near the top right corner of the map. The flood continues between Prospect Hill to the north and Conemaugh to the south. After it reaches the B&O Station, the stem splits into three arrows. One reaches northwest toward a Steep Hillside, another west, and the third southwest to Kernville. The top arrow passes over Cambria Iron Mills and Cambria Iron Offices before ending in the Stonycreek River at the base of the hillside. The middle arrow narrowly passes a Methodist Church before crossing over a Cemetery and ending again at the steep hillside just past Stonycreek River. North of the flood zone, a whirlpool forms near where Little Conemaugh River and Stonycreek River meet. Just beyond the whirlpool a mass of debris came to rest beside Stone Bridge. Cambria Iron Mills is labeled in Millville north of the mass of debris, and the waterway here is labeled Conemaugh River. Some streets in a diagonally oriented grid are labeled where the arrows spread. Those running from top left to bottom right are, from the top down, Locust, Main, Vine, and Chestnut. Cross streets from the top down are Walnut, Market, Franklin, Clinton, Jackson, and Adam.
