Alt Text Area map of Crater Lake National Park and Oregon Caves National Monument in Oregon, and Redwood National and State Parks and Lava Beds National Monument in California. Parks are bright green, and red veinlike roads overlay the map. Extended Description Oregon takes up most of the map, with just a sliver of California at the bottom and a slice of ocean bordering the coast. Each park site is set within a larger mass of pale green representing national forests dispersed throughout this area, and the other land is yellow, giving the map a camouflage look. Crater Lake National Park is the largest of the four, a green rectangle with a large circular body of water in the middle. Redwood National and State Parks line the north California coast in Crescent City. Oregon Caves National Monument sits just north of the Oregon-California border, and Lava Beds National Monument sits just below the border and farther east. This description will go from north to south along the coast and then will head inland. US Highway 101 runs down the coast, parallel to Interstate 5, which cuts down the middle of the map. Text next to Interstate 5 at the top of the map reads “To Portland,” and at the bottom reads “To Redding.” Three major roads branch off US Highway 101 and connect to I-5: State Route 38 from Florence to Eugene, Oregon; State Route 42 near Bandon to Roseburg, Oregon; and US Highway 199 from Crescent City, California, to Grants Pass, Oregon. Branching from US Highway 199 at Cave Junction, Oregon, State Route 46 continues east to reach Oregon Caves National Monument. Several points along I-5 can take you to Crater Lake National Park. State Route 58 goes southeast from Eugene, connecting to US Highway 97, which passes Crater Lake park’s east boundary. State Route 138 branches off right by the park. Highway 97 links with I-5 at the bottom of the map. State Route 138 continues west, connecting to I-5 at Roseburg. Farther south on I-5 near the Rogue River, State Route 62 goes north from Ashford, then loops back down to connect to Highway 97 below Crater Lake. Around Crater Lake, State Route 230 links State Routes 62 and 138. At Klamath Falls along US Highway 97, State Route 39 heads southeast, crossing the state border, at which point it is known as State Route 139. Lava Beds National Monument is just west of 139.
