Volcano Road extends off of State Route 325 just inside Capulin Volcano National Monument. The road passes a Visitor Center with information, restrooms, and parking; Nature Trail with wheelchair access; Dark Sky Viewing Area with star gazing; and Picnic Area with restrooms and parking. Volcano continues to spiral around the crater until it reaches Summit Parking, which has restrooms, at the west side of the rim. The Boca Trail, which runs for 2.0 miles (3.2 kilometers), travels north from the picnic area and flares to make a loop. Quaking Aspen Overlook is off a short spur of the trail near the top left corner of the park. The Lava Flow Trail travels south from the picnic area and also creates a loop, this one measuring 1.0 miles (1.9 kilometers). A spur off the loop leads to the Sierra Grande Volcano Overlook. The rim of the crater is encircled by the Crater Rim Trail, which is 1.0 miles (1.9 kilometers) and passes Capulin Mountain with an elevation of 8,182 feet (2,494 meters). The Crater Vent Trail, measuring 0.2 miles (0.3 kilometers), descends into the heart of the crater.
