A curving, gray area extends west from the visitor center and reaches Rapid City and Ellsworth AFB near the western border. Fargo, North Dakota is marked. Grand Forks AFB is near a gray missile field to the east, and Minot AFB and a C-shaped red missile field is to the east in that state. Shifting west, Malmstrom AFB and Great Falls are marked at the edge of a red field in Montana, and in Wyoming, their neighbor to the south, Cheyenne is labeled at the edge of a red field that also reaches into Nebraska and Colorado. Finally, Kansas City is labeled in Missouri and Whiteman AFB sits at the edge of a gray field in that state.
