"I'm just that nervous, Lucille!", December 28, 1918
Photo of an illustration showing a street corner. Two well dressed women talk to each other; behind them is a handsome man in an Army uniform. The full caption reads "I'm just that nervous, Lucille! I feel like one of those Sabine women just before the carrying away."
This illustration drawn by Louis Grell appeared in the December 28, 1918, issue of the "Straight Grain." This scene may be meant to take place in Portland, Oregon, which was one of the Spruce Mill soldiers' favorite places to spend their free time.
