Origin: South Africa
Uses: Shiny green leaves with white spathes in spring extending into summer. Tolerates dry to boggy soil. On Alcatraz, the lack of summer water causes the plants to go dormant but they re-sprout the end of summer. In Spanish, the name for Calla is Alcatrace.
