Visitors used to tour the cave with carbide lanterns and the jumpsuits you see here. Electric lights were installed in 1933 and the carbide lanterns were discontinued. Unfortunately, these lanterns had left residue on the cave ceilings; it has since been washed away. Today the park uses candle lanterns that leave behind minimal residue in the cave.
