Pawtucket Canal railroad abatement and wall, Lowell, MA, 2016
The photograph illustrates the Pawtucket Canal wall relationship to the railroad bridge abatement. This is the proposed path of the new canal walkway. The canal wall and grade will be lowered to permit the walkway to pass underneath the bridge. On the other side of the bridge, a ramp will be installed to bring the walkway up to existing grade. Tests pits will need to be made to determine the depth of the abatement foundations.
