While this may look like an ordinary teaspoon, upon closer inspection you will notice etched into the handle are the initials ‘SCP.’ It has been suggested that these initials could stand for Narcissa Whitman’s parents, Stephen and Clarissa Prentiss. The Thomas Garth archaeological excavations from the 1940s uncovered this item at the location of the mission house.
