Teaspoon (WHMI 161)
A spoon, discolored with age
While this may look like an ordinary teaspoon, upon closer inspection you will notice etched into the handle are the initials ‘SCP.’ It has been suggested that these initials could stand for Narcissa Whitman’s parents, Stephen and Clarissa Prentiss. The Thomas Garth archaeological excavations from the 1940s uncovered this item at the location of the mission house. Catalog Number: WHMI 161 Object Name: Teaspoon Medium: metal (silver?) Dimensions: length 15.0, width (stem end) 1.5, thickness .10 cm
