A letter from Assistant Secretary Spencer Fullerton Baird of the Smithsonian (1855 – 1878) thanking Capt. Woodbury on the beautiful coral collection at Dry Tortugas, July 9, 1889. On May 17, 1878, Baird would become the second Secretary of the Smithsonian. He served in office from 1878-1887.
