A watercolor of a lotus captures the detail of the flower, including the shape of the petals and the figure in bloom.

Helen Shaw Fowler sold the flowers that she cultivated at the Shaw Aquatic Garden through a mail-order catalog, which she illustrated with her own watercolors. This one is from 1932.
