Scotty's Castle - Main House - Johnson Bedroom Suite
This is the day room part of the Johnson Suite in Scotty's Castle. The black runner carpet is added so that public tours can enter the room without damaging the original 1920s carpet. In the far right of the photo, there is a view into the walk in closet, which still contains some of Albert and Bessie Johnson's shoes and clothing on display. The Indian baskets on the shelves were collected by Bessie Johnson. Most of them were made by local Timbisha Shoshone women that she knew personally. They are arranged in the order they were in originally, based on historic photos. On the far left is a desk which includes a typewriter that Bessie Johnson used to write her books and sermons. The fabric curtains are also original.
