Annotated Historic Map of the Grand Portage Shoreline.
Black and white historic map of the Grand Portage shoreline. Not much visual detail, but the depot, gentle slope, hill, creek, and Lake Superior are labeled.
Original map was by Whistler in the 1820s. NWC stands for North West Company. The Grand Portage ascended from the shore to higher ground (probably underlain by PCprdb) on the approximate course of today’s Upper Road on the east side of the church hill.
