From the view at Echo Park Campground, Steamboat Rock is shaped like a giant shark fin. It looms up over the river from a piece of raised land. Canyons border the scene. The sky, unique rock features, and trees lining the river are all reflected in the calm waters.
For those that drive the Echo Park Road, this is the final destination. Steamboat Rock stands tall above the Green River near the Echo Park Campground. In the 1950s, the controversial Echo Park Dam was almost built here. Thanks to the work of several conservation groups, Echo Park was removed as a dam site and the site's natural beauty was preserved.
