A simple act of gravity can smooth stone, cultivate habitat, and nourish life. To stand at the base of a waterfall is to be immersed in the roar of crashing water, tickled by the delicate mist of drifting droplets, and mesmerized by the endless flow of Earth’s most precious resource. In springs and snowmelt, Lassen Volcanic National Park feeds four northern California watersheds that provide this liquid, essential to our everyday life. One of two waterfalls within the park, Kings Creek Falls reminds us of what we have to lose and what we turn the tap to protect.
