Sweet Coltsfoot
Several plants, topped in round clusters of pinkish-white blooms, grown along the edge of a small creek.
Spring is slowly - finally!- starting to return to the mountain. The subalpine meadows still wear thick blankets of snow, but lower elevation areas of the park are well on their way to melting out. Keep an eye out for early bloomers like Skunk Cabbage and Sweet Coltsfoot. The Coltsfoot pictured here were discovered along Westside Road, April 23, 2013. Photo credit: NPS/Kristyn Loving
