These restored buildings are the only architectural legacy of Benjamin Franklin who started building numbers 316 and 318 (the two buildings flanking the arched passageway) in 1786 shortly after his return from France. When they were finished a year later, he put up number 322 (far right) on the site of the old carriageway into the court. The arched passageway between building numbers 316 and 318 leads to Franklin Court.
