Store and Warehouse at Kennecott Mines National Historic Landmark
Kennecott Mill Town - Kennecott Mines National Historic Landmark, Wrangell-St. Elias National Park & Preserve. This large store, constructed in 1917, was one of the structures built in support of the residents and workers that arrived in the region with the growth of the copper mining industry. The one-and-a-half story structure has an attached warehouse and basement storage, and a receiving area with a conveyor is located on the west side.
When the town was abandoned, many of the buildings deteriorated. This was one of the structures preserved by the NPS and the Friends of Kennicott, and it is currently used for administration and visitor services.
