Marks position held by 83 New York Infantry during afternoon of July 1, 1863 when it aided in repulse of Iverson's CS Brigade. 1 of 90 Mns in Park honoring NY commands at Gettsyburg. Located on W side Doubleday Ave, S of intersection w/Robinson Ave. || Obelisk, 51' high, w/ alter. courses of rough & smooth stone. Topped w/ bronze eagle, 5'8" spread, rests on base, 15'x15'. 2 bronze tablets, N & S, 2'11"x2'4" & 2 tondos, 6'dia. both w/ raised letters. Flank markers have apex tops.
