Monarch was described as a beautiful ship and it was special in the way it made the news with famous passengers. The weather was extreme during Monarch's last voyage on December 6th, 1906, and the ship hit a rock face of Isle Royale. James D. McCallum, a deckhand, managed to get a line to shore and using this line the passengers and crew made it to shore before Monarch's stern began to sink.
