There are always a few who think they have a short cut to anywhere. Unfortunately, taking a balloon to the Klondike was nothing but a lot of hot air. There were only two main routes to the gold fields from Seattle, and they included ships, walking, and time... lots of time. Many Stampeders took months to reach Dawson City.
