Black-and-white photograph with colored-in yellow and red details and an inscription representing a Japanese woman standing in profile photographed by a plain wall.
A Japanese woman, Oriki, stands against a plain backdrop. She wears an all-over patterned kimono, a checked obi [sash] and geta [wooden sandals] without tabi. Portions of her obi and hair ornaments have been hand tinted in shades of red and yellow. Much of her face has a grayish tinge. The wooden stand to keep her in place for the photo can be seen next to her feet. | Inscription: "Oriki san" in ink in block letters by Charles Longfellow. (On image.)
