Rehabilitate Kirby Cove Campground for Universal Access
Upgrades will improve compliance requirements mandated by NPS Directors Order 42 (DO42) and mitigate identified barriers to accessibility as referenced in the 1987 U.S. Department of Interior Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.1) Two entry gates, one at the main entrance off of Conzelman Road and one at the lower parking area, the entrances to the accessible day use and camping sites, are retrofitted with solar power and a coded entry system compatible with the NPS reservations system currently in place. 2) The Kirby Cove Campground is reconfigured to contain 2 AGODA compliant campsites, 2 compliant picnic day-use areas, accessible parking to serve both uses, and accessible paths of travel from the designated accessible sites to existing vault toilets. 3) The upgraded sites each include, at a minimum, accessible grills, tables, fire pits, camp site surface areas and common areas with accessible trash and recycling enclosures.
