Two black arm swim floaties made from cast iron.
These floaties will no longer float. Floaties give the feeling of freedom; they allow a child to float but interfere with swimming. This piece creates a humorous illusion of freedom.

Fireback made at Hammersmith (Saugus Iron Works), 1656. Cast Iron, 54 cm x 85 cm x 3.6 cm. National Park Service Collections, SAIR 12322. Firebacks were mounted on the back wall of the fireplace to protect the bricks from heat. They were often highly decorative and could include the initials of the owners as well as the date. This fireback has raised decorations of columns and circles, the same type of decoration that would be seen on the carved furniture of the period.
