Uniformed park ranger standing in Cathedral
On the 4th of July in 1891, Alvin McDonald, M.E. and Willie Crookam, and George Lee discovered this area of Wind Cave.  This large room, with abundant boxwork, has been said to look like a "cathedral" or a "church". It is the southern half of what used to be known as Capitol Hall.
