2009 Ahwiyah Point rock fall
A dust cloud rises from the base of a steep cliff.
A rock fall from below Ahwiyah Point. The rock mass fell from the prominent bedrock ledge well below the source area from the initial rock fall on 28 March 2009 (but above the floor of Tenaya Canyon). The rock that fell may have been previously detached and lying on or just below the prominent ledge. The rock fall lasting 15-30 seconds, created a substantial dust cloud that remained for at least 20 minutes.
