Interior view of the Kennedy Farm House.
Interior view of the Kennedy Farm House.
John Brown is depicted around a table with members of his group of followers. Brown referred to these men who supported his cause to end slavery as the "Provisional Army of the United States. Annie Brown, John Brown's daughter, and Martha Brown, Oliver Brown's wife, were also living at the Kennedy Farm to serve as cook and housekeeper and to alleviate suspicion by the neighbors of the all male group. It appears that either Annie Brown or Martha Brown has sounded an alarm that someone is approaching the house..
