Frances (Appleton) Longfellow to Anne Longfellow Pierce, 1845
Manuscript letter
Dearest Anne.
Much love to you all. Sam will tell you how we are flourishing – gradually emerging from our chrysalis state – our front wings quite developed. He will also tell of our guest Crawford & all our late doings.
Baby is somewhat troubled with thoughts of his first tooth but I hope soon to get him through it. He is more merry & talkative every day however. Dinner waits so adieu yrs ever Fan.
ADDRESSED: ANNE. / BY SAM.
