Bohemian waxwings (Bombycilla garrulus), Saint-Gaudens National Historical Park, 2016.
This winter visitor is primarily found in states and provinces along the United States / Canada border. Distinguish the boehmian waxwing from the cedar waxwing: bohemian waxwings are greyer overall and have a rufus undertail while cedar waxwings are more rufus overall, have yellow bellies and lack the orange undertail. True to their name, all waxwings have waxy tips on their wings and tails.
