Unsaturated ambient light illuminates a cemetery with rows and rows of marble textured gravestones. Somber conifers and a few deciduous trees intermingle with the graves and form a back border. The vague outline of the library building can be seen between the trees in the distance.

I was on a work detail at Little Bighorn Battlefield in early 2020. Every day, I would walk from employee housing to the visitor center past the library and cemetery. This time, the morning fog gave the area a somber feeling that I had to capture. Custer National Cemetery is one of the fourteen national cemeteries administered by the National Park Service.
