Grand Canyon: Visitor Center Theater 7079
Grand Canyon: Visitor Center Theater 7079
During April of 2011, the orientation theater attached to the Grand Canyon Visitor Center opened. The park's orientation film, Grand Canyon: A Journey of Wonder, is 20 minutes long and starts on the hour and the half-hour. The first showing begins at 8:30 a.m. and the last showing is at 4:30 p.m. daily. The Grand Canyon Visitor Center is open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily. (Summer only: 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.) Work on the theater began in June 2010 and it was constructed through a partnership between Civil Design and Engineering and Loven Construction, both located in Flagstaff, Ariz. The theater addition was designed to blend into the existing visitor center and landscape, and includes both photovoltaic cells and a water harvesting system which demonstrate the park's commitment to the use of renewable energy and water conservation.
