Castle Clinton National Monument
As part of Castle Clinton National Monument's Women's History Program, Kin Hanley from the American Historical Theatre portrayed Mary Pickersgill. In 1813, Mary Pickersgill made the Star Spangled Banner that flew over Fort McHenry during the War of 1812. Francis Scott Key would write the National Anthem after seeing this flag flying in the dawn’s early light.”
