Pictured: view of Level No 1 of the Allegheny Portage Railroad near the foot of Plane No 1. The Little Conemaugh River is to the left; the hill in the background is now pierced by the Staple Bend Tunnel. Exact photo date unknown but was taken sometime before the 1889 Johnstown Flood that destroyed the entire bed of the portage between Plane No 1 and Johnstown.
