The Neversink Aqueduct would have been the third of Roebling’s suspension aqueducts encountered on the trip from Honesdale to Rondout. It was in service from 1851 until 1898. After the closing in 1898 the aqueduct was dismantled and sold for scrap.

The Delaware and Hudson Canal Company, or D & H, was founded in 1823 and operated from 1828 to 1898. It stretched 108 miles from Honesdale, PA to Rondout, NY near Kingston. The D & H was the first million dollar privately owned enterprise in the United States.
