Back of a cabinet card. Front shows an image in an oval. Henry Wadsworth Longfellow almost full profile to left (his right). Striped texture of suit visible. Inscription: "H.W. Longfellow / A W Longfellow [Jr.] / from Aunt Mary [Greenleaf] / March 82" written lightly in pencil in cursive probably by AWL Jr. Photographer stamp includes "Warren's / Portraits / 465 Washington St. / Boston." in gold ink verso. "Warren" stamp in gold ink also below image. Notes: 1878. Appearance, outfit, and photographer dates at this address compatible with 1878 date given in inscription. Presumably MLG gave this photograph to her nephew AWL Jr. after Henry Wadsworth Longfellow death in 1882. Associated Materials: 3007-1-2-1-83 identical image.
