Back of a cabinet card. Front shows an image in an oval. Henry Wadsworth Longfellow almost full profile to left (his right). Striped texture of suit visible.
Inscription: "H.W. Longfellow / A W Longfellow [Jr.] / from Aunt Mary [Greenleaf] / March 82" written lightly in pencil in cursive probably by AWL Jr. Photographer stamp includes "Warren's / Portraits / 465 Washington St. / Boston." in gold ink verso. "Warren" stamp in gold ink also below image.
Notes: 1878. Appearance, outfit, and photographer dates at this address compatible with 1878 date given in inscription. Presumably MLG gave this photograph to her nephew AWL Jr. after Henry Wadsworth Longfellow death in 1882.
