Dear Governor Carroll,
Thank you so much for coming to Gettysburg to make your own “Gettysburg Address”.
It was a classic and we will reprint it not only in the Lincoln Herald, but on our own publication. It was a masterpiece.
Your appearance along with your “First Lady” and Brad is still being much talked of on our East Coast. We had good coverage in the Eastern papers, much better than in Kentucky.
I again want to invite you to be our honored guest at our traditional Robert E Lee Birthday Dinner on January 19th at Big Springs Country Club. This is the 15th birthday and the 16th dinner. At this time, we want to present you with an honorary life. Membership Doctor Thomas E Clark, Kentucky's number one historian, will be our guest speaker. We are also honoring Doctor Clark, the Bingham Professor this year at the University of Louisville.
With best wishes, I am
Sincerely yours,
Frank G. Rankin
Founding President
