Insects from Kīpahulu Valley
Entomologists (insect scientists) on the Kīpahulu Valley Expedition found that 62% of the insects in the valley were endemic. In keeping with past scientific research, the expedition found that most endemic insects in Kīpahulu Valley were confined to the native forest plants rather than the introduced plants. Also like many endemic insects, those of Kīpahulu Valley were limited to mountain forests and very small geographic ranges. Here are some examples of insects observed on the 1967 expedition:
