Vaccinium Macrocarpon (American Cranberry) in Billings-Kittredge Herbaria
Preserved biological specimen on paper.
Preserved Specimen On A3 Paper With A Printed Label Identifying It In The Bottom Right Corner. The Paper Is Mounted On A Larger Cardboard And Covered With Plastic Which Is Sealed To The Board. There Are Two Species On The Page. The First Is Vaccinium Oxycoccos, Also Known As Small Cranberry. The Samples Were Found On June 19, 1919 By Elsie May Kittredge At The Barnard Bog. They Are Many Samples, Each Consisting Of A Small Group Of Roots With A Single, Thin Stem Extending From Them. There Are Small Thin Leaves Attached. There Are Several Colored Drawings. One Is Of The Pink Flower, The Other Of The Red Cranberries. A Few Of The Stems Terminate In Flowers, But There Does Not Appear To Be Any Seed Structures Attached To The Page. The Second Species Is Vaccinium Macrocarpon. There Are Five Samples Of Stem Sections Lined With Small Leaves. There Are No Roots Of This Species Preserved On The Page. There Is One Flower, And No Seed Structures. There Are Two Colored Drawings Of The Flowers And Two Of The Berries. The Backing Sheet For The Vaccinium Oxycoccos Has Been Pasted To The Top Of The Vaccinium Macrocarpon Backing Sheet.
