Two juxtaposed images. On the top: The mechanic's corral at Fort Union featuring an arched doorway and windows made out of gingerbread, icing, and cinnamon, and wagon wheels made of orange slices. On the bottom: A similar view of the real mechanic's corral in the snow, showing the same arched doorway, windows, and wheels.)
A gingerbread rendition of the mechanic's corral at Forth Union. It's by far the most iconic view here at Fort Union and was re-created using home-made gingerbread for the wall, cinnamon sticks for the window lintels, dried orange slices for the wagon wheels, and royal icing/powdered sugar for the snow.
