The unopened flower is covered in white foam. Small bits of its tightly wound yellow petals are peaking through the foam. The opened flower is attached to a thick dark red stem with scattered linear leaves. The leaves are covered in tiny white dots.

Nine bunches of tiny light pink flowers intertwined with dozens of light grey green pointy bracts. The bracts are so pointy the flower bunches appear as spiky balls. A few light green linear leaves extend below some of the flowers. Bare light brown stems attach the flowers to the base of the plant which is in a field of grass.
