Colonel Boles Formation

Caver stands next to cracked calcite column

Named for early Superintendent Thomas Boles, this formation was a staple on his V.I.P. Lower Cave tour. He would often remove the cracked calcite piece as part of the tour. Today, we can observe how something as simple as a human touch can impact cave formations.
