2010 Rehabilitation of the Mather Point overlook area included the development of this mobility impaired access to the overlook, and new railing along the entire rim area at Mather Point. The 2010 Mather Point and Grand Canyon Visitor Center improvements created much needed parking at the Grand Canyon Visitor Center, a vehicle-free visitor experience at Mather Point, a new rim-side amphitheater, and many informational and interpretive improvements to the visitor center plaza.
