Underground Railroad program 7 at Cuyahoga Valley National Park
U. S. National Park Service
Volunteers practice their roles in a scene with slave catchers and free black women. || Cuyahoga Valley National Park interprets Ohio's Underground Railroad heritage because the centerpiece or our park, the Ohio & Erie Canal, was a likely route traveled by runaway slaves. Experience the Underground Railroad, offered each November, places visitors in the role of an escaping slave. The program is part of the National Underground Railway Network to Freedom which recongnizes historic sites, facilities, and programs that have a verifiable association to the Underground Railroad. The photos show volunteers at the dress rehearsal.
